Path To Shine in Morrow exists thanks to volunteers from St. Augustine’s of Canterbury Episcopal Church. The program started meeting at the local public library and after nearly 3 years of building trusting relationships the program moved to St. Augustine’s. This provides better space and a wonderful playground for the children to enjoy. Like all Path To Shine programs there are many ways for you to be involved. You can be a Mentor, you can donate supplies and/or books, you can be a guest speaker, you can help organize an enrichment experience, or you can donate money. The Affiliate Director for the Morrow program is JoAnn Blackstock. Email her to get involved.

2019 update from Affiliate Director, JoAnn Blackstock:
Our group is small. We play a lot of bingo with countries and they seem to like that very much. We also took a mock trip using passports and the children received country stamps as we travelled from one country to another. We pointed out various facts about each country we visited. We tried to find unusual facts in hopes that our children will remember each country. Also, when it is time to read the story from the country, we have the children read a page each, they enjoy doing this.
Of course, craft time is a favorite as are snacks. One week we made pizzas, hot dogs and decorated cupcakes. We also got white baseball caps, put their names on the visors and then they decorated them with fabric markers.
We have a great outdoor area with a children’s playground so when it’s nice we get them outside for that as well.

Donate a New Book to a Morrow Program Participant

Many children in our programs have limited access to books. Please help us spread the love of reading and provide a few new books to a program participant. Through an organization called First Book, Path To Shine is able to purchase brand new books for program participants for pennies on the dollar. First Book prices range from 45 cents to $5 per book. Your donation of $5 will enable us to purchase at least one new book for a child in this program.
